I am Javier Monroy, a postdoc researcher associated with the Machine Perception and Intelligent Robotics group (MAPIR) at the University of Málaga (Spain). My research interests include:

Short Bio

I was born in Coín (Málaga, Spain) in 1982. I received the B.Sc in "Ingeniería de Telecomunicaciones" (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Málaga in 2007. In 2009 I joined the MAPIR group as a Ph.D student to investigate the integration between artificial olfaction and mobile robotics. I received the M.Sc in Mechatronics in 2010 and in 2011 I was a guest reserarcher at the Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems, Örebro University (Sweden), collaborating with the MR&O group. I defended my thesis "Advances in Gas Sensing and Mapping for Mobile Robotics" in Novemeber 2013 at the University of Malaga, and since then I work there as a postdoc researcher.


I'm enrolled in a number of SW projects related to my research interests:

MRPT MRPT It provides C++ developers an extensive, portable and well-tested set of libraries and applications which cover the most common data structures and algorithms employed in a number of mobile robotics research areas: localization, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), computer vision, or motion planning, gas distribution mapping, sensor drivers, etc.
ROS ROS The Robot Operating System is a flexible framework for writing robot software. It is a collection of tools, libraries, and conventions that aim to simplify the task of creating complex and robust robot behavior across a wide variety of robotic platforms. In this context the group has a public repository with some pkgs hosted on github.
OpenMORA OpenMORA The Open Mobile Robot Arquitecture is a MOOS and MRPT-based distributed architecture for mobile robots. It provides off-the-shelf modules for common robotics platforms and sensors, MonteCarlo Localization, reactive navigation, etc.
